Carly Lim wishes to acknowledge and pay her respects to the traditional custodians of the land on which majority of the work displayed here has taken place. These include Eora, Meanjin, Yungambeh, Bundjalung and Naarm. She recognises the continuing connection the custodians have to land, waters and culture. She wishes to pay her respect to Elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty has never been ceded.
Carly is currently based in Eora, Land of the Gadigal people (Sydney, Australia).

Bio
Like many young school-leavers, Carly went to university straight after. During high school she thought perhaps dentistry was a useful, practical career choice but didn't have much passion for teeth in the end. She ended up graduating from Chemistry, but that didn't feel quite right either, despite how fascinating molecules can be. After a short (and smelly) stint working in an agricultural lab she enrolled to study makeup in New York City. A little bit scary but a whole lot of fun, it was the best decision she had ever made. After this magical time learning from the industries’ greatest she returned to Australia, and dove into the unknown seas of freelancer life, armed with dreams and wide-eyed naïveté. Later she spent some time working in sunny London, where she worked under many industry heavy-hitters including Yadim, Terry Barber, Thomas de Kluyver and Lauren Parsons. She is now living working in Eora (Sydney) and her newest venture into nail-design can be found on Instagram at @liminail_studio.
